Acupuncture is an ancient healing art form that has been used for thousands of years to bring balance to body, mind and spirit. It is the fastest growing healthcare modality in America. Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points located on the body's meridian system by a licensed practitioner trained in Oriental Medicine.
Chinese Medical Theory involves a complex system of meridians that run up and down the body. These meridians are the pathways within which Qi (pronounced chee), our vital life force energy, flows. Qi is responsible for the harmonious physiological workings of our body?s organ systems as well as our state of emotional well being. Our optimal state of health is dependent upon the free flow of Qi. Any prolonged blockage, excess, or deficiency of Qi can eventually lead to symptoms of pain, weakened immunity, ill health, and emotional disharmony. Studies have shown that Acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins, making it an effective modality in the treatment of pain.
Acupuncture is a safe and effective method to recover your natural state of health. Only sterile, disposable acupuncture needles are used. There are no side effects and needling produces little or no sensation in the client. The individual may notice a slight tingling as the needle comes in contact with the Qi, but this sensation quickly dissipates. Treatments are very relaxing and clients will often use this time to meditate, rest, or visualize optimal health. Other methods that may be incorporated into your treatment are cupping , gua sha, moxibustion, or Tui Na massage.
Number of treatments required will vary per individual. Generally, acute conditions respond with fewer treatments while chronic conditions may require more time.
Acupuncture is probably best known for its ability to treat chronic pain conditions that other modalities have failed to relieve. However, the National Institute of Health has officially recognized Acupuncture to be an effective treatment for other conditions as well. Some of these are:
When putting your best face forward, Acupuncture offers a natural, affordable alternative to costly cosmetic surgery or injectables. Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation creates a more youthful appearance by facilitating the release of emotional stress held in the facial features as well as re-stimulating the production of collagen, the vital structural component of skin that naturally declines with age. Highly specialized needling techniques are used to create lift and sculpting definition to cheeks, eyes and jawline in addition smoothing fine lines. Lymph flow is restored with facial massage thereby reducing puffiness. The individual's natural, innate beauty is again brought to the surface. Other benefits include overall improvement in general health and well-being. While results can be seen with only one treatment and will vary per individual, longer lasting effects are achieved with a course of 10 to 15 treatments administered once or twice per week. Effects can be further maintained with a repeat treatment every one to three months.
